It features small, dark green leaves and is very dense when fully grown. It is a vase shaped bamboo, meaning it is a tight clump at the base then vases out like a capital V shape to cover a 2-3m area. Boniopsis is a fast growing bamboo, and can achieve a privacy screen in under 24 months - provided you follow our Bamboo Planting Guide with soil preparation and care. Uses:Boniopsis is a fantastic, dense screening bamboo when room allows it to grow out, it is NOT a narrow bamboo. It is also a fantastic bamboo for creating shade in the garden. Planting:Boniopsis has a roughly 1m round circular clump when fully grown, and a span of 2-3m width of foliage at the top. For an extremely dense screen, plant your Boniopsis 1m apart. If you are planting along a fence, come out a minimum of 50cm to allow the base to grow, and it is advisable to plant up to 1.5m out from the fence line to allow for the foliage to bush out in its natural vase shape. It is perfect for a shadier position in the garden as it does not need full sun to establish. You can plant Boniopsis further apart for a more open screen to feature the individual shapes of the clumps.
