Description
Chinese Dwarf (Bambusa guangxiensis) is a hedging clumping bamboo that grows to roughly 3-4mtrs in height, but can get taller in good conditions - you simply HEDGE it to the size you want! It grows very differently from traditional bamboo, with a very bushy, tufting habit with its foliage and does not naturally show the culms. Chinese Dwarf has quite pretty, large green leaves and gives a very tropical feel instead of a normal hedge. Chinese Dwarf is an extremely fast growing, hardy bamboo, and can achieve a privacy hedge in under 18 months! You need to trim Chinese Dwarf down between 1-4 times a year to maintain at the ideal height and to promote new fresh foliage. Check out our testimonials page for a few different Chinese Dwarf before and after pictures.

Uses:Chinese Dwarf is definitely a fantastic privacy hedge, sound barrier and wind break. Hedge it down to any preferred height and even clean out the below foliage to create a japanese style effect! (See below photo).

Planting:When fully grown,Chinese Dwarf has a roughly 1.5m round circular clump base size and can BUSH OUT to a full 3-4m in width purely in foliage density, but only if you let it! For a dense hedge with low maintenence, plant your Chinese Dwarf 1m apart, or if room allows in the width (and you want them to grow big), plant them 2m apart. If you are planting along a fence, come out a minimum of 1m to allow the natural clump size to grow. Chinese Dwarf can be grown in full sun to part shade. Trim back as much as you desire to maintain size and promote new foliage. Chinese Dwarf is a great option for pots or troughs. Follow our Bamboo Planting Guide given at the time of purchase for recommendations on the best soil preparation and care for your bamboo to achieve the quickest and best results (Just like our customers testimonials!).
